9. Analytical TEM source (planeTEM) for one-wall plane wave excitation in large circuits

In scattering applications we often consider a rectangular TEM port limited by two electric and two magnetic walls. We call it plane wave TEM conditions or planeTEM. The incident field distribution is known analytically and constant in space. On the other hand, numerical extraction of the standard TEM mode template becomes slow when the port is large in terms of the FDTD cells number. Version 6.5 introduces a dedicated planeTEM port which forces constant field distribution with vertical (V) or horizontal (H) polarisation. The sense of V and H is explained in Section E 2.5.1.1. This option saves a lot of computing time in scattering applications as in Section UG 2.17.2.
